Robert Half Property Accountant in Melville, New York

Description

Our client is seeking a Property Accountant to join our team in Melville, New York. The role involves handling various accounting tasks related to real estate and property operations. You will be responsible for preparing and processing financial statements, invoices, and payments, as well as maintaining accurate records and providing financial insights.

Responsibilities will include:

• Prepare monthly journal entries and financial statements for the real estate properties

• Monitor cash receipts and process invoices, ensuring accuracy and appropriate documentation

• Review and bill tenant recurring charges and billing adjustments, and perform tenant ledger reconciliations

• Record daily bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers, in the accounting system

• Perform and review bank reconciliations to ensure optimal cash flow management

• Coordinate the creation of comprehensive financial packets for internal and external stakeholders

• Lead the accurate entry and management of financial data in compliance with financial policies

• Perform year-end reconciliations on tenant charges such as CAM, percentage rent increases, insurance, utilities, and real estate taxes

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Property Accountant role or similar within the Real Estate & Property industry.

• Proficiency in using software such as MRI and Yardi is required.

• Must possess a strong understanding of Commercial Real Estate.

• Experience in Financial Statement Preparation is necessary.

• General Accounting knowledge is a must.

• Ability to perform Financial Analysis to support business decisions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for managing and interpreting data.

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are necessary.

• Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

• Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is considered a plus.
