Prestige Employee Administrators Leave Manager in Melville, New York

Job Summary:

The Leave of Absence Manager will oversee and manage the leave department comprised of Leave of Absence Specialists and Leave of Absence Coordinators. This role will focus on the success of the Leave of Absence program as it relates to Client and Employee satisfaction, in collaboration with internal support teams to strengthen our leave program.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Handles complex leave cases and provides expert advice and guidance on difficult or sensitive situations using in-depth knowledge of leaves and policy

  • Manages the day-to-day activities and expectations of direct reports.

  • Serves as the subject matter expert on leave management and compliance issues, providing guidance to employees, managers, and HR team members.

  • Coordinates with applicable stakeholders (employees, managers, benefit team, payroll team, HR Business Partners, and designated vendor) on leave case management keeping employee experience as the focal point.    Develops and trains reports on Prestige best practices.

  • Analyzes and resolves issues with a sense of urgency and recommends appropriate action.

  • Evaluates Leave of Absence program’s full lifecycle in partnership with relevant departments.

  • Conducts audits to make sure employee leave cases and procedures are being administered appropriately and according to established deadlines.

  • Manages escalated feedback and sensitive client interaction.

  • Handles sensitive and confidential information with empathy and professionalism.

  • Oversees updates of documentation and collateral as it relates to regulatory updates.

  • Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.

  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws as they relate to leave of absence includes short/long term disability, and state disability pay  required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent collaboration and partnership skills, both internal and external.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

    Education and Experience:

  • 5 years in a leave specialist position.

  • Managing a leave specialist function preferred.

  • Multi-state experience preferred.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.

  • Specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.

  • Salary based on experience between $85,000 - $98,000
