Job Summary

Position assists the Business Continuity (BC) and Emergency Management (EM) Manager in the development, update and maintenance of a comprehensive BC and EM program to ensure the continuation of critical business processes following a disruption. Provides subject matter expertise to Business Unit staff to assist them in their BC and EM planning and recovery efforts to ensure the company can effectively respond to any blue-sky event and maintain all critical business functions at acceptable levels of performance.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assists business units (BU) in developing a total of 56 business impact analysis (BIA) and BC plans covering over 300 business processes, including the ongoing update/refinement of business disruption recovery strategies to help achieve BC recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO). In addition, this effort includes assisting BUs in the development of business process Workarounds to compensate for the loss of IT applications/systems.

• Helps identify opportunities to mitigate risk exposure and business process downtime during the loss of facilities, IT applications/systems, vendors/suppliers, personnel and/or special equipment.

• Trains Business Continuity Coordinators (BCC), coordinates BC tests with each BU, develops status reports for the BC and EM Manager, and provides expertise and support to management and BU functional areas, as requested.

• Assists the BC and EM Manager on various EM program tasks (Crisis Management Plan/Team updates, and exercise development and delivery).

• Assists the BC and EM Manager on business continuity and emergency management program implementation and maintenance and on special projects (pandemic planning and response, Stage Gate IT Project/BC review, BIA Data Repository maintenance, and strike response planning).

• Assists the BC and EM Manager on coordinating the following programs: yearly DR testing with IT; the vendor risk management program with Procurement; BC records management; Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS)/Wireless Priority Service (WPS), Cyber Security Risk and Compliance (CSRC) and DR Resilience Team Reviews, and bi-annual emergency notification tests (ARCOS).

• Manages BC and DR program management software including implementation and end-user training.

• Tracks and coordinates the assessment of IT Projects for BC impacts and organizes actions to address identified risk, as needed.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years experience working with or within a business continuity, business resiliency, or operational resiliency environment, or in lieu of a degree, 8 years experience working with or within a business continuity, business resiliency, or operational resiliency environment

  • Understanding of operational resiliency and implications across the industry; plus the correlation between planning and exercising/testing activities (e.g., business impact analysis, business continuity plan documentation, and exercising/testing)

  • Familiar with IT environments and/or experience with operational resiliency software tools.

  • Experience with linkage between business continuity and disaster recovery is a plus

  • Excellent collaborator with strong communication skills and ability to present (orally and written)

  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively to meet frequent deadlines

  • Critical thinker that is able to connect the dots

  • High level of energy, creativity, flexibility, and dedication

  • Willingness to focus and drive toward finding the best solution for the business partner

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Valid US Driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driving history

  • Off hours support required

  • Master’s Degree in Business, EM or IT

  • Certification in business continuity or incident management preferred, such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP)
