Job Summary

Provide technical support to engineers and scientist on complex components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment. Work from complex optical drawings, operation sheets, and engineering specifications of significant complexity. Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules. Responsibilities may include cleaning, coating, testing, and reworking optical lenses, tooling, and components, as well as diagnosing cause of optical or mechanical malfunction/failure of operational equipment, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance. Conduct training of new team members.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will include cleaning and safe handling of optical components

  • Coating different optical materials and types of electro-optics

  • Prepping chambers and tooling for coating runs

  • Disassembly and cleaning/sand blasting of coating chambers and shields

  • Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity

  • Capable of performing related manufacturing processes

  • Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs, Process Plans, shop process lists and optical drawings

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification

  • Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials

  • Calibrating, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical and coating equipment

  • Analyze data from test sets and metrology data and provide in-depth feedback to engineering or production supervisors

  • Recognize process deviations and help identify root causes and corrective actions

  • Position requires the ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously and reprioritize in repose to changing operational conditions

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organizations

  • Perform Key Performance Indicators:

  • Meet production deadlines

  • Quality of finished product ( pass/fail rates)

  • Raw material stock levels

  • Compliance outcomes

Job Responsibilities Part II

Qualifications

  • Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years of experience (or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area)

  • Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.

  • Experienced handling small delicate components, using ESD practices

  • Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.

  • Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.

  • Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and Labview.

  • Experience with MRP a plus.

  • Must have good mechanical skills

  • Must have goof hand-eye coordination

  • Understand a complex system with a laser path containing optics, mirrors, and beam splitters

  • Experience with energy detectors, beam analyzers, oscilloscopes, and autocollimators a plus

  • Should understand fundamental optics principles and be capable of inspecting and identifying surface detects of optics
