Pearson Finance Business Manager in Melbourne, Australia

About the role: Reporting to the Finance Director, Finance Business Manager will support the School Courseware and International Assessment on financial matters and ensure the delivery of business and operational objectives by partnering with the leadership team.

In this role you will be key in structuring and coordinating the financial and management controls of the Sales, Marketing and Product teams supporting courseware products in the UK & Internationally.

Our team: We support planning, budgeting, and buying things across Pearson. We’re responsible for financial reporting and communications. We also look after our offices and global property, and global risk.

As a Finance Business Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual results, including forecasting and variance analysis, to support leadership team decision-making.

  • Provide insight and analysis to the business to aid forward looking decision making with specific focus on key cost drivers and the timing of the key cost drivers of the courseware and assessment products and operating costs to produce, market and sell these products.

  • Reporting on sales performance by product and market share to provide insight to management

  • Develop and prepare financial business cases to support investment decisions in courseware products and platform with support from PFS.

  • Identify and address operational improvement and cost opportunities to enhance profitability.

  • Support decisions on investments, pricing, and delivery strategy, ensuring they align with financial targets.

  • Collaborate with PFS for accurate and timely reporting, planning, and forecasting processes.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and audit requirements, collaborating with external auditors and regulatory agencies.

  • This role is a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Professional finance qualification such as ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent with at least 2 year PQE.

  • Effective partnering and strong communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders
