Description
As a part of Amazon’s continued growth in the APAC region Amazon Robotics Deployment team are seeking an experienced and business oriented Engineering Project Manager to lead the capacity, capital planning and project execution for the continued expansion of our Australian and Japanese fulfillment network. This is your opportunity to manage the critical path for robotics deployment and help other teams deliver network capacity on time.
As the the Engineering Project Manager you will define, drive and simplify strategy, while being detailed oriented and agile to manage business changes and keep driving initiatives. You will conduct multiple weekly meetings with internal teams and vendors to plan and track deliverables. While deploying technology innovations and solutions on a need basis, working closely with these teams. The projects are focused in Asia Pacific region that serve Amazon’s Fulfillment Transportation, and Delivery network, but there are opportunities to support projects abroad.
As a Robotics Deployment Engineer for Amazon, you will collaborate with a talented team and dive into challenging technical problems to deliver Amazon’s leading edge robotics technologies in its fulfillment, transportation, and delivery network. This role requires a unique combination of engineering know how, problem solving, curiosity, innovation, leadership, and effective communication. You will be the engineering lead onsite helping manage resources and providing robotics expertise, during various deployments. You will excel at interfacing and delivering results with cross functional teams.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will master the details of Amazon fulfillment center design, the processes involved with modelling, budgeting and managing the deployment of new fulfillment centers in Japan and Australia. You will play a pivotal role in the project team, providing leadership across the full spectrum of project delivery including:
Managing the build specifications and pre-contract work.
Inspiring internal teams and maintaining vendor relations.
Utilizing the critical path, building effective partnerships with key stakeholders to help other teams deliver network capacity on time.
Define, drive and simplify project delivery and business processes.
Identify and seize opportunities to innovate on behalf of our customers.
Identify and implement initiatives to support Amazon’s commitments to sustainability.
A day in the life
You will be interacting daily with a wide variety of teams and individuals at all levels of the organization and in multiple time zones. You’ll be liaising with SME across organization, diving deep to understand the technologies we deploy; you’ll build on these relationships to help refine and improve our deployments and processes. While you’ll main focus be across Asia Pacific, you may find yourself supporting projects in other parts of world. Basic Qualifications
5+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
Bachelor's degree
Conversant with leading-edge technology including software, hardware and robotics
Experienced in leading teams through setup and configuration of software, hardware, and robotics projects
Ability to perform onsite hardware and software support during initial system deployment
Proven experience leading overall end-to-end project delivery including resources, Capital Expenditure (CAPEX), schedule and vendor management.
Committed to the continuous improvement of operational processes.
Willingness to travel 75% of the year
Business-level Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
Experience working with and managing third party vendors
Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
