Xylem is seeking an Automation and Commissioning Engineer at our Kemps Creek, Sydney Location. The role reports to the Engineering and Design Manager and is responsible for the PLC programming, bench simulation, site testing and commissioning, and technical support to ensure a smooth automation and commissioning process for treatment programs.

The role:

• Assist in the pre-award stages of tendering by advising on the procurement of the required automation equipment.

• Prepare a functional description in conjunction with Process Design Engineer

• Development of PLC and HMI programming code for automation of water and wastewater treatment equipment and systems, including but not limited to UV, Ozone, Blower, Aeration, Pump Station, and end-to-end treatment process.

• Product engineering documentation including interface list, control logic, alarm list, bench test procedure and reports, site tests & commissioning procedure and report.

• Perform bench simulation tests.

• Site execution of PLC/HMI programming and instrumentation setup on existing and new implementations of treatment systems.

• Prepare handover to Xylem Service Technicians and support them on aftermarket activities if required.

• Complies with Xylem’s Environmental Health and Safety and Quality Assurance policies and procedures.

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering

• 3 years prior experience in Automation and Commissioning

• Prior experience in the Water and Wastewater Industry (highly desirable).

• Software experience Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Schneider, Redlion.

• Strong verbal and written skills.
