Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a motivated Instructional Designer who possesses a unique balance of technical depth, business knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills. You will partner with several AWS teams to craft learning paths to educate AWS field sales teams and have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy for new educational content, services, and features.

The ideal candidate is an innovative, driven, problem solving Instructional Designer with experience working across multiple instructional delivery modalities to create high-quality learning experiences that support field sales and partner teams. The role requires an individual who is knowledgeable in adult learning and instructional design strategies for performance-based outcomes, can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before.

The candidate is motivated to study, share, collaborate and discuss subjects related to learning experience design. Subjects, such as cognitive psychology, instructional theory, performance improvement, design thinking, user experience, visual communication, user interface design, mobile design, video production, writing and much more. You possess an ability to create exciting, engaging, and excellent instructional design, and work seamlessly with stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key job responsibilities

• Be the voice of the learner, ensuring their needs are at the forefront of our content efforts, develop new content, iterate and improve on existing content

• Lead projects through the design lifecycle from scoping, research and analysis, design, development, and launch; providing clear timelines through all phases, communicating with key partners, and selecting appropriate measurement for successful implementation

• Identify learning objectives, assess learners, define performance outcomes, and evaluate instruction delivery strategies, including consulting with program owners and subject matter experts to identify performance gaps and learning objectives

• Development of instructional materials (tutorials, digital interactives, user guides, scripts, story boards, navigational text, tests, etc.) that transform information into engaging instructional materials

• Collaborate on learning design projects, enlisting subject matter experts to produce and publish technical content

• Understand related fields—usability and experience design, information design, communications and new technologies

• Be conversant with the ADDIE instructional design model. Preferably with SADL experience.

• Conduct Performance Needs Analysis

• Implement our client's ISD process by transitioning proposals to ISD strategies, vetting all ISD methodologies, defining levels of courseware fidelity and monitoring quality throughout the ISD process

• Liaise with stakeholders to understand their performance gaps and provide concise advice on training solutions that fill those gaps

• Monitor project status

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Distance Learning, or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience in instructional design, distance learning, corporate training, or a directly related field

  • 5+ years of experience in designing and delivering effective field enablement programs focused on sales capability development

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following tools: Articulate Storyline, Lectora, Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and related SCORM or Tin Can compliant production tools

  • Qualifications in training and assessment; other related qualifications will be highly regarded

  • Strong project management skills and experience, including managing internal stakeholders and external agencies, and multiple global and local projects at once

  • Conceptually and intuitively understand how people learn

  • Must be comfortable in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and able to manage priorities well

  • Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes

  • Be capable of imagining oneself as the learner/audience member

  • Experience with latest learning technologies and best practices that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of field training delivery and absorption

  • Have strong communication skills, be punctual, a self-starter, team player, and be able to support and meet deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

  • Brainstorm creative treatments and innovative instructional strategies

  • Be obsessed with learning

  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, interactions and the finished product

  • Write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts and video scripts • Know the capabilities of learning development tools and software

  • Training/Facilitation experience in delivery programs
