Job Description:

Responsible for the supervision of employees conducting mine instrumentation, control, electronics and electrical troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance.

Instrumentation, Control and Electrical Supervisor

Hiring Annual Wage: $100,612 to $123,445

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety via work products and by personal example.

  • Ensure all plans take into consideration Colowyo safety standards, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and other regulatory requirements as necessary.

  • Supervise and assign the work of Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (IC and E) functional area team members in the areas of safety, quality and efficiency.

  • Develop and deliver performance reviews for assigned staff.

  • Assess training needs and schedule appropriate training for functional area personnel.

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot systems and equipment to determine required repairs.

  • Ensure safe working conditions through the proper administration of necessary clearance orders, confined space entry permits, hot work permits and other safety procedures.

  • Assist the planning functional area in assigning work packages, arranging for parts and tools and maintaining records and status reports to ensure the accuracy and consistency of mine IC and E activities are maintained.

  • Coordinate the work and maintain effective working relationships with other functional areas and outside contacts concerning equipment, work needs and outages.

  • Collaborate with maintenance planner to schedule manpower and resources for the most effective outcomes.

  • Close work orders with detailed completion comments on daily jobs for proper feedback for planners.

  • Assist with root cause failure analysis for equipment and system failures and investigations of incidents.

  • Assist in the preparation, management and control of the IC and E, operating and capital budgets.

  • Communicate planning quality to the Planner to capture procedure improvements.

  • Assist the Planning functional area with analyzing IC and E functional area work activities and processes. Develop, implement, and make the necessary adjustment to existing programs, schedules, and strategies for effective resource management.

  • Align the IC and E activities to ensure targets are met and sustained in the long-term.

  • Take on other assignments as required to successfully and timely implement new systems and initiatives.

Must understand and comply with the Clearance Procedure as applicable.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Advanced organizational and project management skills.

  • Practical knowledge of mining or heavy industrial equipment maintenance.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with all stakeholders, vendors and trades in a professional manner.

  • Positive outlook and ability to effectively perform multi-task work.

  • Ability to use appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high pressure environment.

  • Ability to identify, analyze and effectively address complex issues.

  • Strong computer skills with a willingness to quickly learn and master new software and systems. Advanced computer skills a plus.

Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in electrical, electronic, electromechanical systems with at least five (5) years in mining or heavy industrial setting, or related experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years previous leadership/supervisory experience.

Other:

  • Working knowledge of tools and test equipment, preventive and predictive Instrumentation, Control and Electrical programs and outside contract preparation, negotiation and administration.

  • Possession of valid driver’s license required.
