About the Role:

The Benefits Specialist provides administrative support for employee benefit programs, ensuring that benefits are processed accurately and efficiently. This role involves working closely with HR teams, employees, and benefits providers to address and resolve benefits-related issues. The benefits specialist will provide accurate benefit plan explanation, answer benefit enrollment questions, and have excellent communication skills to provide customer service to employees with benefit questions. The incumbent will work with employees, carriers, and vendors. This position will handle sensitive benefit issues that may require thorough research to resolve

  • The Benefits Specialist plays a essential role in supporting and administering the bank's employee benefits programs.

  • Assist employees in resolving benefits-related issues or discrepancies.

  • Assist in the enrollment, changes, and terminations of employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and

  • retirement plans.

  • Review, process and oversee Workers’ compensation program

  • Educate employees on company benefits and resources available to be an informed consumer

  • Act as the main contact person for benefits, including managing the benefits mailbox and phone line in a timely manner

  • Assist Benefit Administrator with leaves administration, supporting ADA Accommodations

  • Perform general administrative duties related to benefits administration

  • Prepare and process benefits paperwork and documentation

  • Review and maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records and employee files in the HRIS (Human Resources Information

  • System)

  • Resolve employee benefit issues by working with the broker and/or vendors

  • Make routine decisions regarding benefits administration under established guidelines and policies. Seek support from senior HR staff for complex or unusual situations.

  • Ensure all actions and decisions comply with company policies, benefits plan guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Consult with supervisors to clarify or interpret policies when necessary.

  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities –knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.

  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.

  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

About You:

  • High School Diploma or GED, Required

  • Associate’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, Preferred

  • 0-2 years Direct benefits experience with handling day-to-day administration required.

  • Basic knowledge in health, welfare, and retirement plans, and providing supportive assistance with absence management needs for leaves, accommodations, and/or modified work schedules.

  • Current/former companies had 2,000+ employees preferred.

  • Has experience with multistate plans and programs.

Workstyle: Fully onsite.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $22.00 to $26.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
