Timber Products Company Division Controller in Medford, Oregon

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages the financial reporting and accounting systems for the Medford Particleboard division while complying with Company accounting policies and procedures. Functions as a business partner to provide information and guidance for effective decision-making by operations, sales and Company management to optimize Company assets and achieve Company financial goals. Performs and directs the preparation of reports and the reconciliation of accounts. Supports Divisions in efforts to enhance Information Systems and Management Reporting. Performs other financial reporting, budgeting and financial analysis functions as assigned.

This position is not remote. The incumbent must be able to work In the Medford, Oregon mill.

MAJOR TASKS:

  • Partners with Operations and Sales management in developing financial analysis to support decision-making processes.

  • Responsible for the period-end close process including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and operating statistical reporting.

  • Drives the implementation, application, and continued improvement of financial and accounting processes, procedures, and controls– including accounting for purchase activity, production usage, and manufacturing costs.

  • Provides financial analysis and reports to assist in forecast and budgeting processes.

  • Develops and maintains product costing analysis and related reporting.

  • Prepares year-end work papers in conjunction with annual audit and tax returns. Ensures all other public or government filings are completed in a timely manner.

  • Assists in the development and tracking of key operating metrics.

  • Observes monthly inventories and enforces compliance with internal procedures.

  • Produces monthly financial statements accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Leads, manages, evaluates and coaches department team members as assigned.

  • Responsible for supporting and enforcing company policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.

  • Experience with product costing and developing standard costs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills including a strong background in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), PowerBI, and ability to learn MS Dynamics accounting program.
