Bon Secours Mercy Health Instructor-Clinical Simulation in Mechanicsville, Virginia

The Clinical Simulation Faculty (CSF) promotes and coordinates the teaching-learning activities conducted by the faculty and students while in the Clinical Simulation & Learning Center (CSLC). CSF inform and assist faculty in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of simulation-based learning experiences for students within the Richmond Higher Education Institutes (HEI) as well as partners and stakeholders within the healthcare community.

Job Functions

  • Collaborate with academic faculty to determine specific student needs and correlate those needs with course objectives to develop appropriate and effective health care scenarios utilizing simulation-based education. Implement processes required for successful execution of simulation-based learning activities.

  • Provide instructional support in the CSLC for students to improve competencies and skills in meeting course objectives.

  • Facilitate faculty development to improve competencies and skills in developing and delivering simulation activities to meet course objectives.

  • Maintain and update CSLC facilities and equipment by monitoring simulation equipment; troubleshoot and report problems; and assist in data collection.

  • Coordinate student and faculty continuing education activities in the CSLC including but not limited to ConnectCare training, POCT training, and respirator fit testing.

  • Communicate potential or actual student, faculty, or staff problems to the Dean of the CSLC.

  • Assists with scheduling the routine use of the CSLC for college departments, health system departments, and the healthcare community following the established scheduling process.

  • Conduct operations of the CSLC according to OSHA requirements.

  • Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and membership in professional associations.

Education/Experience

  • Required Minimum Education: Master's Degree, Nursing

  • Licensure/Certification Required - Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.

  • Minimum Years and Type of Experience-1 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse

  • Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required - Proficiency in the areas of communication, computer and instructional technology, interpersonal skills, and clinical practice are required.

  • Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred - •Experience in the development and use of clinical simulation scenarios for high fidelity simulation is preferred. Professional certification preferred.
