PenFed Credit Union Manager, Third Party Risk Management in McLean, Virginia

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Manager, Third Party Risk Management at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to enhance PenFed’s third-party management practices and strengthen our risk and oversight activities. The TPRM manager will develop, document, maintain, and implement programs, processes, and tools that support a formalized and consistent approach for all third-party management activities across PenFed.

The Manager, Third Party Risk Management will report to the Sr Manager, TPRM and will lead a team of 3 to 6 TPRM Analysts to evaluate strategic vendors. These vendor evaluations will assess PenFed’s strategic vendors from 5 viewpoints: Financial, Legal, Security, Business Continuity and Compliance. The Manager will oversee vendor renewals to ensure vendors remain compliant during the term of their contracts. The Manager will provide business units with pending contract termination notifications to ensure contracts are properly terminated. This includes working with the business units to recover any PenFed data and remove any vendor access.

This position will also perform quality reviews of team deliverables and provide weekly reporting on the TPRM backlog to the Chief Procurement Officer. The Manager will also be responsible for day-to-day management of the TPRM Analysts and evaluating personnel performance.

  • Evaluate vendors from a financial, security, legal, compliance and business continuity prospective

  • Manage team to perform vendor assessments and vendor renewals

  • Work with Procurement team to ensure key PenFed vendor requirements are within vendor contracts

  • Provide TPRM department approvals within the purchasing workflow in Salesforce

  • Maintain up-to-date TPRM Policies and Procedures

  • Maintain the TPRM Intranet site

  • Coordinate with Business Units and vendors to correct deficiencies

  • Track vendor contract renewals and renewal dates

  • Coordinate with Business Units on upcoming contracts renewals

  • Provide vendor feedback to Procurement and Third-Party Risk Assessment group during vendor contract renewals

  • Provide weekly TPRM vendor backlog reports

  • Develop working knowledge of Archer and Archer dashboards

  • Reconcile Accounts Payable Spend file with Archer Vendor records

  • Develop necessary deliverables to support annual NCUA review

  • Provide ongoing reporting to the TPRM Senior Manager, Chief Procurement Officer, and executive management, as requested

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics) and experience that provide the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions required

  • Minimum of four (4) years of work experience within the related field is required

  • Minimum of two (2) years of management experience is required

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills are required

  • Working knowledge of Archer a plus

  • Knowledge of financial concepts

  • Knowledge of third-party risk management concepts

  • Demonstrated technical competence and analytical skills

  • Ability to condense highly technical subject matter into clear and effective communications to senior management

  • Exceptional thoroughness, attention to detail, and follow through

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working partnerships through well-honed interpersonal skills

  • Executive presence and ease of interaction with all levels of management, both internally and with third party personnel

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise employees.

Licenses and Certifications

TPRM or other financial certifications are preferred.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
