Department Summary:
The MITRE Corporation’s Cost & Business Analytics Department is seeking a cost analyst to support multiple projects solving our customers’ most critical investment and financial challenges. We are seeking a lead analyst to join our team. This department serves as a vanguard for MITRE to meet the future needs of our customers requiring technical excellence while encouraging creativity and fostering interests in the intersection of emerging technologies, cost, business, and economic impacts across its diverse membership. Expect a multi-disciplinary team environment with self-motivated, highly trained professionals. This is a project-oriented position that may require project management, collaboration, communicating to technical and non-technical audiences, and direct sponsor engagement.
The Cost and Business Analytics Department within MITRE’s Center for Acquisition and Management Sciences (CAMS) Innovation Center that solves our FFRDC’s and Sponsor’s problems by leveraging our capabilities within:
Cost Estimation, Schedule, and Risk Analysis
Investment Economics & Decision Analysis
Strategic Business & Financial Analytics
Roles & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
Develop and/or evaluate program technical and programmatic baselines
Develop innovative development, production and operating and support (O&S) cost estimating techniques for a broad range of cost elements
Develop independent or program life cycle cost estimates (LCCE) and accompanying cost and schedule risk, uncertainty, and sensitivity analysis
Develop investment economic and decision analyses, including business case analyses, cost/benefit analyses, analysis-of- alternatives, and portfolio analysis
Develop strategic business and financial analyses, including but not limited to economic studies, cost recovery strategies, budget development & planning, and affordability analysis
Assess the credibility of government and industry cost estimates and economic analyses
Assess the credibility of government and industry cost savings initiatives
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Bachelor of Science degree in the fields listed below,
Economics
Engineering
Mathematics
Econometrics
Statistics
Operations Research
Data Analytics
Quantitative Sciences
Technical expertise/experience in one or more economic sub-specialties (Financial, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Behavioral Economics, etc)
Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills
The ability to think critically and be proactive in pursuing research and problem-solving with minimal supervision
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, or related discipline
Extensive experience and expertise in the application of economic research in a business setting
Recent publications
Strong credentials, recognition, and partnerships in the design and evaluation of policies and strategies to deliver solutions at scale
Experience in finance
Recognized expertise and professional network in cost, economics, or finance
