BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.

We are seeking an experienced Automation/Digitization Specialist to join our Digitalization team within the operations for process catalysts. This role is critical for the design, development, and management of our database systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in database management, data modelling, and application development, with a passion for automation and leveraging data to drive business decisions.

This role is based in North America (Georgia) and offers the opportunity to work closely with our production facilities on-site.

As a Digitalization Program Manager - Mcintyre, GA, you create chemistry by...

  • Act as the local contact person for automation and digitization (A&D), overseeing the control, execution, and coordination of area-specific projects in collaboration with the EVC digitization team.

  • Serve as the local interface to specialist departments in automation and digitization, initiating and shaping new projects and initiatives.

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database architectures that support the organization’s applications and business processes.

  • Develop and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and functions to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation.

  • Collaborate with application developers to integrate database solutions into software applications, ensuring seamless data flow and access.

  • Monitor/optimize database performance, and troubleshoot/resolve database-related issues conducting regular health checks and performance tuning as necessary.

  • Ensure data security and integrity by implementing and maintaining appropriate access controls and backup strategies.

  • Analyze and model data requirements, translating business needs into technical specifications and database structures.

  • Manage and configure individual digital application cases, such as creating customized dashboards and reports.

  • Coordinate external service providers in project implementation and tasks.

  • Support the digital roadmap and implementation of individual projects.

If you...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Automation Engineer, Database Developer, Database Architect, or similar role.

  • Strong expertise in database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).

  • Proficient in SQL and experience with data modelling

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, or C# is a plus.

  • Understanding of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Basic understanding of digitization possibilities and a strong affinity for IT.

  • Experience in low-code programming.

  • Strong analytical thinking ability and a goal- and results-oriented work style.
