Summary This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, position description D1635000, within the 108th AMXS of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this position is to certify acceptable performance, test, repair, trouble-shoot, operationally check and modify aircraft turbine and auxiliary power units, and associated propulsion system components. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10, you will: Troubleshoot, modify, repair, and perform sequential disassembly and assembly of gearboxes and auxiliary power units Analyze malfunctions using schematic and wiring diagrams, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, computer diagnostics data, inspection findings, trending data and aircrew debriefs Requisition, process, and account for supply assets as required by the repairable processing system Perform engine run operation on installed and uninstalled engines to troubleshoot malfunctions or verify findings Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Conditions of Employment Areas of Consideration: CAT 4: Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey National Guard Military Grades: A1C/E-3 to SSgt/ E-5 Selectee has one (1) year to obtain required AFSC Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Specialized Experience: At least 18 months experience training performing standard: Assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories Maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft Determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
