The Patient Account Representative possesses knowledge of coordination of benefits, subrogation, and government regulations regarding third party recoupment and other matters. Accounting and business office skills are needed, in addition to thorough knowledge and understanding involving any patient's account. Also requires excellent public relations skills for addressing and resolving patient's questions or complaints regarding charges. The patient account representative is expected to function within the scope of approved policies and procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Will be responsible for assisting with orientation, preceptorship and management of personnel assigned to unit. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Must be willing to work and complete any duties assigned by the Director without complaint. Yearly mandatory education requirements are non-negotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to completely in a timely manner.
The Patient Account Representative in ONCOLOGY uses their skill set to accurately perform diversified duties with primary emphasis in hematology/oncology authorizations. The patient account representative assists patients by obtaining necessary authorizations for treatments or procedures when required. Must provide high skills in areas required for office organization and telephone communication. Requires a good sense of judgement and analytical skills to perform a variety of tasks associated with general account review. Work assignments will be determined by adjustment of daily scheduled appointments and priority needs of the patient, medical director, or director. The account representative will be assigned to work up to 40 hrs. per week with no weekend work required.
