Description:
The Coordinator will work with patients and their families beginning with the evaluation for transplantation and continuing through and after transplantation, in a compassionate and tactful manner in order to help facilitate access to and provide continuity of care.

The Financial Counselor for Transplant is a key member of the transplant team, responsible for obtaining and managing detailed patient insurance benefit information for all aspects of the transplant process. This includes, but is not limited to, outpatient prescription drugs, organ acquisition, follow-up clinic visits, and travel and housing arrangements, if necessary. The Financial Counselor collaborates closely with transplant team members, insurers, and administrative personnel to ensure comprehensive financial support for transplant patients.
Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Counselor for Transplant ensures seamless financial support for transplant patients by gathering and verifying detailed insurance information, maintaining compliance with insurance policies, and advocating for maximum benefits. They provide financial counseling to patients and families, addressing insurance concerns and ensuring clarity throughout the transplant process.
The role involves ongoing communication with patients to track insurance changes, collaboration with healthcare providers and administrative teams to resolve billing issues, and initiating reimbursement agreements with insurers. Additionally, the counselor attends clinics and meetings to offer financial insights and maintains accurate records of all activities.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training in business, finance, or accounting
Minimum Experience:
Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Details: prior experience may include registration, billing or reimbursement, social work, collections, or managed care
Key Skills and Attributes:
Strong understanding of insurance policies and healthcare reimbursement processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in navigating complex financial and insurance scenarios to support transplant patients effectively
Pay Range: $18.16 - $28.14 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
