Position Data:

Title: Court Child Care Specialist

Grade: 6 Exempt: Non-Exempt: X

Reports to: Child Care Council Director

Basic Function or Position Summary:

Provides quality childcare at the Mayville court Drop-in Child-Care facility. Through implementation of developmentally appropriate practices and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Facilitates positive relationships with Court and Law Enforcement personnel, children, families, staff, and community partners.Hours per week 35: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Salary $18.08/hourly

Security Clearance: Lv 4 V, A, C, R

Requirements

Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

• Facilitates day to day activities at the court drop in child care; aligned with service outcomes, performance targets, and goals

set by the service area and agency.

• Facilitates and maintains effective relationships with staff, court, and law enforcement personnel, families, children,

community partners, and COI staff

• Maintains awareness of quality childcare practices and trends of best practices.

• Keeps track of training logs and certificates as designated, responsible for compliance and meeting training regulations.

• Assists in the planning and implementation of activities.

• Maintains awareness and complies with Agency, service area, guidelines, policies, and procedures including NYS Child Abuse

laws.

• Participates in all meetings as designated.

• Maintains confidentiality.

• Assures and monitors implementation of appropriate policies and procedures in accordance with NYS guidelines.

• Compiles reports, data (outcomes).

• Promotes positive agency and service area image, acts as ambassador for agency.

• Fosters cooperatives relationships with Funders, staff, partners, parents, and Court /Law enforcement.

• Obtains and tracks in-kind documentation.

• Assists with facilitation of Advisory Board in partnership Division Director and Supervisor.

• As the Resource and Referral agent maintain knowledge of regulations relating to provision of childcare and to government

financial assistance

• Provides childcare referrals as well as financial information and information guidelines for selecting a high-quality child care

provider.

• Maintain knowledge and provide service in accordance with childcare resource & referral best practices standards

• Answer Resource & Referral phone line “live” during normal business hours; return all messages received on phone line within

one business day

• Provide individual counseling and childcare needs assessment to parents enabling them to make informed decisions about

childcare

• Provide referrals to childcare providers based on customer provided parameters

• Maintain records in Empire State Match provider and referral data base collecting, and reporting data

• Promotes agency mission.

• Participates in the larger team of the agency through committee structures, planning, policy development, and volunteerism.

• Maintains consistent professional customer service.

• Other duties as designated by supervisor.

Organizational Responsibilities:

• Data collection and reporting as required

• Participation in COI strategic planning and (CQI) process

Knowledge, Skills Required:

• High School Diploma with 3 years’ experience working with children and families or GED with 3 years’ experience working with

children and families or Associate degree (A.A) in Early Childhood with 1 year experience working with children and families

• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

• Ability to complete the Child Development Associate credentialing course within 18 months of employment

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google drive

• Ability to develop and maintain and engage in positive relationships with people from various backgrounds.

Special Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s license

• Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.

• Reliable transportation

• Ability to obtain a LexisNexis clearance.

• Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times
