Job Title: Production Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a Production Maintenance Technician responsible for the set-up and maintenance of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on equipment used in the production process. You will work directly with the Engineering team to supervise and improve processes for output and waste levels, providing leadership and ownership of process performance issues. The role reports directly to Production Maintenance (Engineering) and indirectly to Production.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all electrical systems on production equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on designated production equipment as specified in the PM Program or as needed to ensure smooth operation.

  • Assist Engineering with the installation, debugging, and start-up of all equipment, including maintaining and adjusting vision systems within defined parameters.

  • Maintain equipment logs on assigned equipment, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems. Document all process changes using approved control change procedures.

  • Ensure all safety and environmental procedures are maintained.

  • Provide Production Supervisors with relevant information on equipment and process performance, including production and waste information.

  • Provide leadership to other associates in problem-solving production equipment issues.

  • Coordinate and support other maintenance activities as needed.

Essential Skills

  • PLC experience

  • Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot systems using these drawings

  • Multimeter troubleshooting skills to identify voltage issues and shorts

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electrical experience with 24V up to 480V systems

  • Experience with AB PLCs, understanding of VFDs, relays, and ladder logic

  • Ability to get online and change programs as needed

  • Mechanical experience with hydraulics, vacuum pumps, roller and materials conveyors, gear boxes, conveyors, and SERVO motor replacement

  • Understanding of CAM-operated systems

  • Robotics experience (helpful but not necessary)

  • Mechanical aptitude with an electronic focus

Work Environment

You will work a 8pm-8am shift on a 3, 2, 2, 3 schedule. Training will be conducted from 8am-4pm (M-F) for approximately 8-10 weeks before transitioning to the night shift. The plant operates 24/7 and houses around 900 employees, creating a large and dynamic work environment. Direct hire positions available, with onboarding starting on Mondays. The role is within the Wingsets department, which assembles devices for blood collection.

This is a Permanent position based out of Sumter, South Carolina.
