Direct Support Professional (FT/PT)

Description Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country seeks individuals with professionalism and heart to fulfill the roles of Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs). The IRA is a group home to 3 - 5 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP works within the residence to provide individualized personal care, mentorship, support, and a sense of stability and security to the individuals who call the residence home.

The services the DSP provides to each individual within the residence are tailored to the need of that person with the end goal of enhancing their quality of life. Services may include assisting with personal care, assisting with daily living skills, transporting individuals to appointments or accompanying them to participate in community activities, dispensing medication (after additional training and certification), ensuring safety, providing a friendly ear and emotional support, assisting with residence cleaning and upkeep, and completing the required documentation, to name a few.

CPANC operates several IRAs in St. Lawrence County, with locations in:

-Massena -Norwood -Canton -Colton -Edwardsville

Our IRAs are staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week. We're hiring for full-time, part-time, or per diem schedules and have various shifts available. In our Massena location, we are particularly looking for full-time and part-time coverage for evenings (3 p.m. - 11 p.m.), part-time nights (10 p.m. - 8 a.m.) and per diem for all shifts.

Please note that part-time status carries a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

We offer a competitive hourly wage and benefits, generous time off, and a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements The successful candidate will be empathetic and hardworking. They will serve as a role model of positive and productive behaviors and will deal with residents, families, coworkers, and supervisors respectfully and honestly. They will follow policies and protocols, participate in required training, and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling. They will also have sharp attention to detail and will protect resident privacy and confidentiality at all times. A high school diploma is preferred but may be overlooked for a candidate who meets the other listed requirements. A New York State Driver's License with two years of driving experience and reliable transportation is also preferred, and an acceptable motor vehicle abstract is required for anyone who will be driving.

Salary Description $16.72 per hour
