The Opportunity

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the field of precision medicine? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Precision Medicine Medical Affairs Lead. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring AbbVie Australia's readiness to launch new oncology products that require companion molecular diagnostics.

We will need to assess our preparedness, address evidence and educational gaps, and forge collaborations with external scientific stakeholders to develop partnerships that will enhance patient access to AbbVie's groundbreaking precision medicines.

Key Responsibilities:

• To proactively support internal company cross-functional stakeholders working with precision medicine assets to gain alignment on critical success factors, including;

• The sharing of insights supporting regulatory and payer submissions

• Translation of policy and industry trends impacting evidence needs

• Identify quality assurance measures required for building confidence amongst users of companion diagnostics

• Addressing technical training needs for internal and external partners

• Evaluation of medical and scientific accuracy of core dossiers generated by the medical department (i.e. pricing and reimbursement dossiers, HEOR dossiers, medical information packs, clinical expert reviews etc.).

• To provide precision medicine medical functional contributions to

• Launch planning and launch readiness activities

• The evaluation of future clinical studies requiring companion diagnostic testing

• Contribute to Global Medical Affairs Precision Medicine strategic plans

• Provide input into Scientific Interaction and Digital/Multi-channel Plans for field-medical activities

• To identify and engage key local external testing providers and pathology laboratory partners involved in the tissue journey, operating as the scientific interface to HCPs/Customer(s), Health Care Institutions, External Experts, professional associations and government bodies, including;

• Testing laboratories,

• Testing platform providers,

• Pathologists,

• Oncologists and other healthcare providers involved in the diagnosis and management of patients requiring AbbVie’s precision medicines

• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned therapeutic product(s) / relevant therapeutic area(s) through attendance/participation at key internal meetings/training sessions, relevant congresses, and seminars and by regular self-study of the national/international literature.

• Establish and maintain professional and credible relationships with key thought leaders / external experts and academic centres; this will involve participating in scientific congresses, coordinating advisory boards, round-table meetings, discussion fora etc.

• Screen relevant literature and other information from relevant scientific societies meetings and conferences and develop summaries of key messages for use within the Company (e.g. key areas of scientific/company interest, new trends in diagnosis, monitoring and treatments in the therapeutic area, etc.)

• Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where appropriate.

• Design and implement diagnostic research projects within defined standards and budgets (e.g. Phase IV, registry/database projects, epidemiological surveys, and diagnostic quality assurance studies).

• Provide medical/scientific input into marketing strategy and key commercial initiatives, as required. Monitor the environment for competitive intelligence (e.g. product strategies, studies, commercial messages, positioning, etc.) and communicate, where appropriate, within the Company.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable national laws and regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, AbbVie’s policies and procedures and accepted standards of best practice.

What we need

• Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy or other Bachelor degree in a scientific discipline or higher.

• A background in diagnostics, the diagnostic industry, medical affairs or a related field, along with experience in working closely with the pharmaceutical industry.

• Strong understanding of precision medicine and companion diagnostics, including the regulatory and payer landscape in Australia.

• Excellent communication and proven relationship-building skills in effectively establishing new links with external stakeholders.

• Possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
