The Process Engineer is responsible for directing production, distribution, and operations within the plant, focusing on achieving maximum efficiency, safety, and quality standards. This role involves leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting, and strategic planning to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Define and communicate duties, responsibilities, authority, and accountability to all direct subordinates.
Mentor and guide subordinates and other employees, fostering professional development and knowledge-sharing.
Keep employees informed about company and departmental plans, progress, and updates.
Promote and enforce plant safety procedures and company policies.
Plan, organize, direct, and optimize day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively and promptly.
Analyze staffing requirements and optimize resources for maximum output, meeting or exceeding quality standards.
Analyze workspace requirements, workflow designs, and equipment layouts to ensure maximum efficiency.
Monitor operations and implement corrective actions as needed.
Estimate future manufacturing requirements and identify growth opportunities.
Develop and implement programs to achieve business plans for growth and profitability.
Oversee document control processes.
Collaborate with the Quality Manager to implement recommended quality measures in production.
Understand, determine, plan, and manage the scope of the ISO quality management system and its processes.
Work closely with Sales and Finance teams on planning and forecasting to support corporate success.
Partner with the Ceramics Consultant to improve core quality by implementing experiments and best practices. Report on results and associated costs.
Conduct cost analyses of SIC materials and monitor the cost of goods sold.
Achieve profit margin goals on core pricing through efficient processes and cost control measures.
Prepare and present production, performance, and analytical reports as requested by the VP/General Manager and Chief Executive Officer.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field required; advanced degrees preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
Certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar are highly desirable.
Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., CAD, ERP systems, data analysis tools).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with furnaces, extruders, mixers.
Experience with silicon carbide or relevant materials.
Data-driven process improvement experience.
Experience in ceramics, silicon carbide materials, or similar industries is a plus.
Work Environment
On-site manufacturing environment. The role involves working with advanced technologies and equipment in a collaborative and safety-conscious setting. Billable holidays and vacation are offered, with ample room for growth, including potential advancement to Plant Manager.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $48.07
