Victim Advocate/Witness Coordinator (Juvenile Court)
The Union County Prosecutor is seeking a caring and dedicated professional to serve as a Victim Advocate/Witness Coordinator for the Prosecutor's Office. This role will have an emphasis on providing support to victims, witnesses, and survivors of the Juvenile Court process. Performs a variety of tasks on behalf of victims of crime and trauma (e.g., meets with victims, notifies them of hearing dates, attends court hearings, coordinates witness appearances in court and other legal proceedings, provides referrals, advocates, etc.). Duties also include assisting prosecutors with meeting and interacting with witnesses, and preparing and maintaining accurate records of all assistance provided. Performs other related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for helping those who have experienced trauma and crime, the aptitude for working complex cases, and a team-oriented, flexible demeanor. QUALIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of Bachelor's or Associate's degree in criminal justice, social sciences, psychology or related fields, and/or two (2) years of experience in the legal system or progressively responsible community services organization with a commitment to continuing education and victims' rights; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background. Advanced training in victim advocacy desired, but not required. Victim advocacy training will be required upon hire and will be coordinated (and paid for) by the County. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy.
