Your role at Clorox:
The Material Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of packaging and raw materials for Martinsburg (as well as other miscellaneous expenses items) including purchasing, transportation/delivery tracking, SAP data maintenance, and inventory accuracy. The Material Coordinator will also train to back up other Material Coordinators in our litter network as needed.
Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 hour per day. Start time is flexible between 6:30am and 8:00am. Occasionally you may need to check on materials at night or on the weekends, for which overtime will be paid.
Hourly Rate: $31.55
In this role, you will:
The primary function of this position is to ensure that packaging and raw materials are available on plant when needed for production. The material coordinator also serves as a liaison between the plant and vendors, identifying and communicating quality and delivery concerns to ensure resolution. The exact materials this position will cover will be decided once a successful candidate has been identified. It is desirable that candidates are willing to handle materials that are received via railcars when backing up other material coordinators.
Provide short-term forecast to vendors according to their request, and provide input to long-term forecast after quarterly Clorox budget update
Execute Purchase Orders (POs); Ensure availability of commodities
o Issue ATPs (Authorization to Print) when needed to initiate the production of a material ahead of actual PO’s.
o Issue plant and MRP POs in a timely manner to ensure that materials are available when production is scheduled
o Update and review daily reports to check material/railcar shipments (when backing up other material coordinators) to ensure that deliveries are on schedule and expedite delivery/give notice to scheduling if they are not
Identify and communicate issues involving assigned commodities
o Participate in plant Daily Review to update plant on material status
o Participate in weekly calls with Supply Planning, Deployment, and Plant/PDC
o Participate in meetings to manage assigned commodities (ie, weekly & monthly clay calls, weekly carton vendor meetings)
o Communicate commodity status & issues when appropriate (ie, daily clay availability report, carton/bag availability concerns, run-out timing)
Ensure quality packaging & raw materials
o Work with Quality group to confirm whether suspect materials are out-of-spec
o Issue Quality Notifications & Return to Vendor POs when out-of-spec commodities are identified
o Request formal Corrective action reports for significant quality issues
o Serve as liaison with supplier to ensure resolution of quality defects, including requesting vendor representatives visit the site to assist in investigation of issue
Support business and plant projects that involve materials
o Participate in Business Project (EO/PQ) meetings
o Participate in meetings to prepare for business changes that involve assigned materials
o Estimate transition timing to new materials and ensure that new materials are available when needed.
o Maintain SAP master data for your assigned materials
o Develop expertise to update the plant master data – material status, BOMs, route files
Inventory Control
o Provide input on inventory targets for each material you have responsibility for
o Aim to meet inventory targets, and communicate to management when production needs or other issues dictate that we exceed the target inventory levels and/or spending targets
o Perform cycle counts on assigned materials according to agreed-to frequency
o Assist in annual inventory management processes and audits
Continuously improve materials processes
o Actively seek out and implement ways to improve materials processes
o Meet or exceed plant expectations for improvements
o Bring up concerns or opportunities for improvement to management
Back-up the Plant Scheduler in his/her absence
Provide assistance for miscellaneous Business Support initiatives As Directed by the Planning and Scheduling MGR
Support Litter Business by managing materials and communication across both Spring Hill and Martinsburg plants
Support Vista Roll out – role responsibilities may shift as Vista is rolled out
Systems monitoring and Trouble shooting
o Actively monitor all ques in EWM, MES, and SAP Systems
o Work with local and Corp IT on troubleshooting system issues that affect MSM team and Plant
What we look for:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Word® and SAP functionality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to represent Clorox to outside vendors with a professional demeanor
Customer-service oriented to internal customers across both sites
Detail-oriented, yet understand the bigger picture of financial implications of material transactions & business needs
Ability to be flexible with business needs and work independently
Willing to receive calls or work from home during off-hours occasionally to ensure availability of commodities
