Job Description

Riceland Foods is hiring a Quality Assurance Manager. The Manager, Quality Assurance and Sanitation, SQF Practitioner is responsible for the administration of the overall quality, food safety, and sanitation programs for the New Madrid facility. The Manager plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance, food safety, sanitation and pest control programs designed to ensure quality and the food safe production of products consistent with established standards and regulations by performing the following duties personally, or through subordinate supervisors. The Manager participates in the process of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following. Other duties or requirements may be assigned by manager.

Quality and Food Safety Specific:

Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.

Supervises and trains all quality control and warehouse/utility personnel during their performance of loading/unloading and shipping/receiving operations involving barges, trucks, and railcars, maintains strict adherence to shipping schedules, and orders.

Verifies the documentation on all outbound carriers. Coordinates government inspections for all loading operations.

Maintains, communicates, reviews, and verifies the implementation of the Food Safety (HARPC) plan.

Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.

Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.

Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and the actions being taken to correct the issues.

Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.

Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance and food safety activities.

Maintains a working knowledge of government regulations, industry quality assurance and food safety codes, and standards.

Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality and food safety. Makes sure all corrective actions are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner Specific

Plan and organize future GFSI/SQF audits as required.

The SQF Practitioner is responsible for verification and validation of the SQF System. The practitioner has responsibility for food safety, training of the SQF system, and review of changes made to food safety fundamentals or the HARPC plan.

The practitioner has the authority and responsibility to oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, forms, and all aspects of the SQF program by working with corporate management, division staff, and supervisors.

The practitioner has authority to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF system. These actions are coaching, training, auditing, and having management, division staff or supervisors correct or improve systems, processes, or procedures. This also includes updating the food safety plan when there are changes and reviewing and updating the food safety on an annual basis.

Sanitation Specific:

Monitor pest activity at the facility and rec mmend suitable measures to be taken to control or eliminate infestation.

Responsibly and legally use pesticides as part of the pest management program to maintain and preserve product integrity.

Coordinate facility fumigations and foggings at the appropriate frequency. Fumigate outbound shipments as required.

Maintain adequate chemical inventory.

Conduct annual training for all licensed and non-licensed pesticide applicators at the New Madrid facility and make sure all licenses are up to date.

Perform and assist in audits of the facility to determine effectiveness of program.

Identify insects, recommend treatment, and suggest use of suitable restricted pesticides to respond to insect infestations.

Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding infestation or other sanitation issues. Makes sure all corrective actions are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises up to 10 employees. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provide training regarding quality, food safety, and sanitation issues.
