Emerson Quality Engineering Co-Op in Marshalltown, Iowa

Emerson is looking for a Quality Engineer Co-op for S pring or Fall 2025 to join our Ma rshalltown, IA team . We are looking for someone who is interested in gaining real-world experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position is a temporary 8-month co-op assignment from January 2025-August 2025 or May 2025-December 2025.

In this position you will assist with many different aspects of the Quality department which will include working closely with the Quality Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Quality Engineers on special projects. You will collaborate with different departments in addition to your own, spend time both in an office setting and production floor, and your responsibilities will combine individual tasks as well as collaborative work or group projects. You will work on special projects which will include leading and implementing a 5S project on our gage center, standardizing CMM reporting, and improvement of inspection processes.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Collaborate with other engineers, teams, and departments to develop and implement solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges

  • Document current and future state workflow and potential process improvements

  • Lead and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects

  • Attend department, team, and project meetings as necessary

  • Complete projects as assigned by Quality Manager

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field

  • Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and PC skills including Microsoft Office

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Safety conscious

  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a hands-on approach to problem solving

  • Commitment to full-time (40 hour) Spring (Jan 2025- August 2025) or Fall (May 2025- December 2025) Co-op experience in Marshalltown, IA.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • College status of a junior or senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology

  • Six months generalized work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • General Lean Manufacturing knowledge
