Position Summary:

The Physician Substitute Manager is part of the site leadership team, promoting company culture and enforcing company standards and expectations, within all areas of the center. This position is directly responsible for providing supervision to all Physician Substitutes within the plasma collection center.

These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, performance evaluations, time and attendance oversight, and corrective actions, as necessary.

The Physician Substitute Manager must ensure competency of all medical staff and enforce Physician Substitute adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FDA guidance, and regulations when determining the acceptability of donors. Soliciting guidance of the Medical Director and/or Center Licensed Physician(s) when necessary.

This position also oversees the reviews of normal donor laboratory test and the proper management of abnormal test results, to ensure all staff are compliant with the regulatory and the company procedural requirements.

The Physician Substitute Manager reports directly to the Center Director for day-to-day management and leadership. They may collaborate with the Medical Director or Licensed Center Physician(s) while making any decisions which directly impact donor suitability. This position must ensure the appropriate medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and the plasma processing areas. It is required to work in the production areas of the Donor Center 85% of the time to facilitate identification of production, staffing, quality, and personnel issues.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the compliant and timely performance of physicals associated to new and return physical examinations as required by SOP.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert educating others regarding answers associated to donor questions about the Plasmapheresis Informed Consent, RSV Plasmapheresis Informed Consent, and the informed consent for any other applicable donation program.

  • In conjunction with Center Director, establishes medical staff schedule to ensure appropriate site coverage.

  • Receives and manages call outs of Physician Substitute staff arranging appropriate site coverage as required, to ensure centers are operational.

  • Availability to work all days and hours of operations to perform Physician Substitute duties and conduct performance observations of assigned staff.

  • Monitors established KPI’s ensuring compliance to standards and making necessary adjustments when necessary.

  • Demonstrates and develops, in the medical staff, a professional and customer focused approach to interactions and daily activities.

Responsible for ensuring appropriate management of site medical events and the associated

papers and electronic documentations of the event while addressing improvement

opportunities as identified.

  • Monitor new donor additions assuring that the Physician Substitutes are timely in receiving the donor and moving them through the process.

  • Monitor deferrals applied during all medical activities for acceptability and compliance with the company SOP’s.

  • Maintain competency in all Physician Substitute job related activities while acting as both a preceptor and mentor.

  • Works closely with the Quality team to correct, prevent, and investigate errors providing immediate and long-term corrective actions.

  • Confirms all required donor suitability criteria and associated records are complete and accurate before determining donor acceptance.

  • Maintains up to date knowledge of all donation programs.

  • Records information in the collection devices as prompted. Records medical incidents as applicable. Records equipment incident information as prompted.

  • Ensures the work environment is clean, organized, and equipment is maintained according to procedural requirements.

  • Reports all unsafe situations or conditions to the Center Director.

  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with peers and donors.

  • Establishes, attends, and presents at staff meetings and staff training sessions.

  • Obtains assistance from the Center Physician for any matters outside of the defined areas of responsibility and authority.

Required Skills

Licensed RN, LPN or Advanced EMT (AEMT) in Georgia

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

CPR Certified

4 years of experience in the medical field with 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $85000.00
