Position Title: Director of Business Development & Consulting Services
Position Location: Atlanta, GA area (Hybrid schedule)
Position Description The Director of Business Development & Consulting Services plays a key leadership team role in the company and has significant services delivery and business development responsibilities.
The Director of Business Development & Consulting Services is an expert in the design and delivery of high-performance information technology architectures, applications and services to address complex business problems. They will partner will clients to provide business, technology and solution thought leadership throughout the engagement cycle.
The Director of Business Development & Consulting Services also serves as a trusted advisor to clients (C-Suite) to educate and influence their perceptions, preferences, and direction. They will focus on the clients’ business challenges and goals, engaging to provide strategic vision to clients on how best to leverage existing/future technologies as well as human capital assets and process optimization to address said challenges. As an experienced, senior-level consultant and subject matter expert, they also provide direct consulting services to clients.
While we support most of our clients remotely, there is always the potential for occasional on-site travel to meet with clients and prospects. Additionally, travel in the Atlanta metro is expected for business development responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
· Consulting Services Delivery
o Provide consulting services to clients, including strategy/roadmap projects, assessments, analysis & design, project management, etc.
o Manage all aspects of consulting and technical implementation projects from analysis through implementation and support.
o Lead customer specific project team(s), assign individual responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed, and monitor progress towards a timely completion of the project(s).
o Direct and develop detailed plans and schedules; ensure workplan addresses scope, approach, technical architecture and inter-team dependencies.
o Interface directly with customers for project status, issue escalation and deliverable distribution.
o Ensure effective flow of communication between management, users, customer and associates on the program/project team.
o Facilitate and drive technical issue/risk management processes.
o Ensuring all deliverable quality metrics and milestone dates are clear and met while managing budget.
o Identify, estimate, and explain change orders for customers or third-party vendors.
o Assist with project budget management including time and expense tracking.
· Business Development
o Assist with the creation of a Business Development Plan and execute on the plan, including targeting prospective customers, developing service offering strategies, and executing marketing plans.
o Generate customer opportunities using various strategies and sales methods.
o Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials.
o Build productive long-lasting relationships with prospects.
o Work with Abel Solutions Marketing on new business acquisition campaigns.
o Utilize Abel Solutions’ sales tools (i.e., Dynamics) to track and monitor account and opportunity activity.
o Evaluate and understand needs to determine appropriate services to offer.
o Qualify opportunity using BANT (Budget, Authority, Needs, Timing) or similar method.
o Serve as the primary point of contact for new customers for contract negotiation, account transitions and introductions to delivery team.
o Achieve annual individual sales targets and support overall Sales Team targets/metrics.
o Forecast individual sales and report to Abel Solutions leadership.
o Support the delivery of sales demonstrations as required.
o Own the development of contractual documentation for new and existing customers as warranted during the sales process.
o Manage and coordinate the estimate process with Abel Solutions’ Architects, SMEs and Consulting personnel.
· Service Offering Strategy
o Plan and direct the company’s solution offerings by developing strategic and long-range goals and the related roadmaps to achieve.
o Conduct organizational reviews to identify strengths and weaknesses and evaluate operational effectiveness regarding all strategy and collaboration implementations.
o Increase sales through account planning and expansion of existing accounts in coordination with Account Manager via increasing breath of service offerings to existing accounts.
· Continuous Process Improvement
o Participate in the development of internal business processes to support company as it grows.
o Identify, refine, and promote best practices in terms of deliverables, processes, and knowledge sharing.
o Attend meetings, sales events and training to keep abreast of the latest development.
Other Responsibilities/Expectations
o Ensure project excellence by exhibiting professionalism, effective communication, critical thinking, workmanship and assisting in financial deliveries of customer engagement.
o Attend company functions including company meetings, community service events and social events (e.g. happy hours) as an example for other employees and to cultivate team building.
o As assigned, direct reports include coaching, training, prioritizing tasks, career planning, handling personnel issues and conducting performance reviews; particularly ensuring consistency across positions and identifying people who are ready for promotion and providing constructive criticism and motivating praise in a timely manner.
o Assist the Abel Solutions leadership with other activities and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Skill Requirements
· Comfortable in playing SME role in all project work streams.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft technologies (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, SharePoint, Power Platform).
· Strong knowledge of current IT Support Services (i.e., desktop support, network support, helpdesk, etc.) and Cybersecurity concepts.
· Flexibility and creativity in solution design, including leveraging emerging technologies.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills to prepare and communicate strategic vision and roadmap to executive level client personnel as well as to interact with all levels within the client, project, and consulting services organization.
· Exceptional customer management and teamwork skills; comfortable with listening to and challenging other’s ideas and working with disparate groups to bring about consensus.
· Proven ability to upwardly influence the strategic direction of business solutions within a client’s environment.
· Proven ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
· Strong track record in managing concurrent tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, changing, demanding environment with quality results.
· Exemplary analytical and critical thinking skills to assist with problem solving and business rule definition, and to identify and negotiate solutions to address project challenges.
· Ability to overcome objections, negotiate price, and close business.
· Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
· Demonstrated deep technology capabilities and should be able to articulate them through practical implementation examples.
