Overview
M Health Fairview is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position is 40 hours per two weeks on the Evening shift , for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as: PTO, dental/medical insurance, and more. Responsible for patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Health Unit Coordinators are part of a dynamic care team including Providers, RN's, Nursing Assistants and Department Leaders, creating an atmosphere of hospitality and efficiency. Using EPIC, the Health Unit Coordinator plays a critical role in the coordination of information ensuring an optimal patient visitor experience.

This unit has a total of 29 beds that sees abdominal pains, falls, strokes, chest pain, headaches etc within Pediatric through geriatric patients. This is the only ER in Minnesota that has a result pending room for patients nearing the end of their treatment so that they can wait for discharge paperwork, which opens our active treatment rooms sooner.
Responsibilities Job Description
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care
Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team
Prioritizes and transcribes written doctor's orders under the supervision of the RN
Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures
Patient Care Delivery: Observes and collects pertinent data and/or clinical findings to enhance patient outcomes
Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families
Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves
Qualifications
Requirements
Experience: 1 to 3 years office experience required, preferably in a health care setting.
Electronic Health Record knowledge required/experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
Patient care experience preferred
Medical terminology knowledge/experience preferred
HUC certificate
