General Description: The VP of EHS is responsible for leadership of the safety team as well as collaboration with all departments including Executives, Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, Research & Design, and Sales. Along with having responsibility for ensuring Wells is compliant with applicable regulations, you will set the long and short-term direction for EHS and will have great latitude to influence and embed safety throughout the organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the overall creation and development, and maintenance of an effective Environment Health Safety strategy and program using a science and data-backed approach. Responsible for Lean process implementation and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment Responds quickly, empathetically, and effectively to safety-related incidents and emergencies and supports immediately addressing critical safety concerns including sustainable corrective actions and implementing critical controls. Utilize pre-planning and leading indicators to eliminate or correct negative safety and health trends. Support OSHA inspections and incident investigations reviews, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs and procedures. Possesses an understanding of the science of ergonomics and can relate the science to the work processes. Conducts compliance audits, site safety plan audits, general risk assessments and other safety assessments that support the organization's health and safety program. Visits production and job site areas on a regular basis to establish health and safety presence and provide support. Investigates near-miss reports and assists the management team with appropriate corrective action. Builds safety procedures into our normal processes to reduce company liability and risk, audits all processes to ensure compliance. Responsible for EHS team's performance, growth, and development. Develops an environment of emotional safety where safety communication is strong across all departments and where sharing is highly valued. Maintains a strong line of communication with the executive leadership team, operations strategy, and development teams. A willingness to push back and ask the tough questions regarding safety inclusion in project planning and execution. Strong event learning/root cause analysis experience that focuses on informed decision making at all levels of the organization. Drive of EH&S policies, procedures, and tools to meet long and short-term strategic safety objectives. Travel up to 40% EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Construction, Project Management or Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management, Environmental Health and Safety or a related field preferred. Ten+ (10+) years of progressive responsibilities in a manufacturing plant, construction company, oil and gas, or similar industry where health safety was a core responsibility. ASP, CSP preferred. Prior experience directing an impactful safety and health program for a large-scale organization with multiple offices/divisions. Supervisory experience with managing safety professionals on mu tiple project locations. Ability to build effective teams, creating a strong feeling of belonging, shared ownership, and team morale. Ability to encourage diverse thinking to promote and nurture innovation. Understanding how to steer through the organization to get items accomplished. OSHA 510 or 511 preferred OSHA 10 and 30-hour preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment. Visual acuity and ability to read small print. Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment. Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS: Moderate to substantial risk of exposure to unusual elements. Moderate to substantial risk of safety precautions. Moderate to high exposure to production environment. Travel as needed to local jobsites and around the plant. Must be capable of working in heat and wintry conditions. Must be capable of climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, walking (flat and uneven surfaces). Must be comfortable working at heights.
