Product Development Engineer Location: Minnesota Industry: Medical Device | Engineering | Product Development Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Development Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of implantable medical devices and related processes. This role will contribute to method development, fixture design, and test method validation (TMV). The ideal candidate will have strong CAD/SolidWorks expertise and experience working with implantables, materials, and process improvements. Key Responsibilities Product Development & Testing - Lead and support activities related to product design, material testing, process capability studies, and research investigations (animal and clinical studies). Engineering Documentation - Prepare and maintain detailed engineering reports, test protocols, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards. Fixture & Tooling Design - Design, procure, and fabricate custom tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing and R&D testing. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting - Identify and resolve product/process challenges related to design, materials, and manufacturing methods. Test Method Development (TM Development) - Develop, validate, and refine test methods (TMV) to ensure accuracy and repeatability in product evaluations. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to drive project success. Innovation & Continuous Improvement - Contribute to new concept development, generate ideas for product/process enhancements, and submit idea disclosures for potential intellectual property opportunities. Project Ownership & Scheduling - Work independently to plan and prioritize tasks while ensuring project milestones are met. Required Qualifications Education & Experience: BS in Engineering + 2-4 years of relevant experience OR MS in Engineering + 0-2 years of relevant experience Technical Skills: SolidWorks / CAD expertise (1-2 years) Innovative Design & Product Development experience Experience with CAD/CAE tools (preferred) Knowledge of test method development (TM), fixture design, and TMV Soft Skills & Collaboration: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams Excellent documentation and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in implantable medical device development Knowledge of biocompatibility, materials testing, and regulatory requirements Background in process optimization and manufacturing support Why Join Us?
