Position Highlights:

Part-time | 2nd Shift | 35 hours bi-weekly
Schedule: Friday, Saturday | 2:45 pm – 11:30 pm
Regular Days Off: Sunday - Thursday
However, work flexibility is required in order to meet the needs of the agency.
Must have a valid driver’s license with F Endorsement.
Will be required to travel.

Will be required to travel.
In your role as a Developmental Services Worker 2, you will have the opportunity to:
Implement programs and procedures designed to achieve the objectives of department in the care of individuals with developmental disabilities;
Provide guidance and instruction to individuals in development of desirable personal habits, hygiene and social relationships;
Implement individual program plans;
Reinforce appropriate individual behavior through modification techniques;
Participate in preparation, serving and feeding of meals to individuals;
Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a clean and health environment for individuals;
May lead and participate in social and recreational activities designed to develop individual potential;
May act as a shift charge;
May attend interdisciplinary team meetings;
May evaluate performance of subordinate staff;
May provide orientation and basic in-service training to subordinate staff;
May participate in special programs designed to fully develop the potential of individuals;
May administer first aid in emergency situations;
May administer selected oral medications;
Other duties as assigned.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Department of Developmental Services this class is accountable for acting as part of a team in an intensive programming effort designed for the care, guidance, supervision and training of individuals.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Knowledge of
fundamentals of hygiene and physical training;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of experience in the care and supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities at the level of a Developmental Services Worker 1 or equivalent experience in a human service field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
Possessing of a Medication Administration Certification
Experience communicating internally and externally with team members and community providers both over the telephone and in written inquiries.
Experience using Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word.
Experience working with Adults with Autism.
Experience working with non-verbal individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Experience supporting individuals that may exhibit severe challenging behaviors.
Experience supervising staff in supportive roles.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class may be required to obtain and maintain Medication Administration Certification from the Department of Developmental Services.
Incumbents in this class may be required to be bilingual or fluent in American Sign Language.
Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's license, Public Passenger Endorsement or Commercial Driver's license for designated positions.
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class must possess physical and emotional health for efficient performance of duties; a physical examination may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift and restrain individuals.
Incumbents in this class may have significant exposure to communicable/infectious diseases and to risk of injury from assaultive/abusive individuals.
Incumbents in this class may be exposed to strongly disagreeable conditions.
