At our R&D site in Mannheim we offer:

Master’s Thesis Embedded SoC-System (d/w/m)

Powerful, flexible computer hardware combined with highly developed optical microscopy components form the basis for high-performance systems for cutting-edge research in the life sciences. State-of-the-art FPGA/SoC platforms are key components for the performance requirements of various opto-digital modules.

This master’s thesis deals with the integration of different imaging modules based on parallel, distributed computer architectures. Whether multi-gigabit data transmission or real-time processing of the data stream, this thesis offers an insight into a very dynamic R&D environment with many exciting fields of activity.

You will work closely with experts in imaging, SoC design, embedded design and system architects.

As of now, we are looking for a master's student who is enthusiastic about one of the following topics FPGA/SoC Platform Design or Embedded Software Design. The topics are outlined below. FPGA/SoC Platform Design

You have initial experience in hardware-related SoC design in the development of image algorithms or industrial bus connections. You are familiar with complex architectures of digital systems.

Your profile

  • You are enrolled in a master's degree program in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, bio-medical engineering or a comparable course of study

  • You have basic knowledge of the programming languages VHDL, C++

  • Initial experience with Intel or AMD SoC design

  • You have basic knowledge of imaging concepts and embedded systems

  • Points of contact in HLS or Linux would be an advantage

  • You have a passion for innovation and enthusiasm for innovative technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary and cross-location teams

Embedded software design

You have initial experience in hardware-related software design in distributed systems.

You are familiar with embedded systems based on reconfigurable hardware in an embedded Linux environment.

Your profile

  • You are enrolled in a master's degree program in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, bio-medical engineering or a comparable course of study

  • You have basic knowledge of embedded imaging systems

  • You have basic knowledge of the programming languages C++, C, Python

  • Initial experience with Linux would be desirable

  • Points of contact with FPGAs would be an advantage

  • You have a passion for innovation and enthusiasm for innovative technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary and cross-location teams
