Job Description:

QA Project Technician

A Level 3 Projects Technician must have at least one year of QA experience.

➢ Primary job duties

o Perform training including new hire orientation training and wash inspection certification

o Lead new projects

o Perform audits against GFSI standards, RSPO standards, Rain Forrest Alliance Standards, internal programs, customer standards, and GMP audits.

o Consumer complaints- Perform detailed investigations, prepare report of investigation to QA Manager, monthly compliant report for DCI boards, and complaint trending

o Audits- GFSI, QA Program, QA Focus, and QI Focus

o Food Safety and Food Defense facilitator backup, meeting preparation, and meeting follow-ups

o Data trending for Food Safety Plan- Food Safety tracking, hold, complaint data, wash inspection, environmental, and sanitation effectiveness data.

o Regulatory, Certification, and Customer audit preparation and assistance during audit.

o Organic verification and annual assistant for annual organic certification audit

o QA Document Control

o Coordination of retention pallet trashing and consuming. This may require PIV certification.

o Food Safety Inspections

o Trace Team Member- Scheduling trace to ensure each type of trace is completed annually, training new members, and reporting trace results to an auditor during an audit

o Creating, updating, and performing quality training as needed- Include toolbox talks, classroom, and Computer based trainings

o Other job duties may include calibration/verification tracking, allergen validation, and other new QA tasks as assigned

o May require off shift work on a regular basis to complete requirements of some job duties

o Tracking of data; for example: complaints, wash inspection results, food safety tracker

o Back up for Assistant Microbiology Technician

o Fill in for call ins/PSST/Vacation

All QA Tech Level 3 must be knowledgeable of the following tasks:

Test and qualify ingredients, premixes, blends and finished products such as:

o Testing samples, familiarize self with taste/color, use salt meter for salt analysis, test for pH, density, moisture, absorption, fruit count, peroxidase, cloudiness, granulation, leakage, dissolvability, enrichment, brew test, O2 test, perform food safety tests, perform food safety device checks (metal detector, magnet, screen and sifter overs), check graphics, labels, cartons, cases, UPC matches again process order, check seals, correct drop weights, check codes for proper characters, check codes against process order, check for scorched particles, perform scale weigh check, equipment calibrations and drop tests. Perform chemical storage audits, and file COA.

➢ Use and be familiar with weight charts, QA record sheets, product specification PDM, audit sheets, SSOP and wash reports, pre-operation check off log, packaging material usage, food safety, glass audits and recycle procedure

o Follow through on wash inspections to include sanitation effectiveness swabbing

o Perform product change over checks

➢ Maintain retention samples for future reference when needed

o Collect proper amount of customer samples (may vary per customer) and ensure samples are correct or perfect. Record samples per customer guidelines and ship as necessary.

➢ Maintain or resolve temperature and humidity controls/issues

➢ Maintain controls

➢ Work with product holds
