Purpose of the Position

This role is based in Manassas, VA

The plant HR Manager ensures the right talent is in place to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results and ensuring that the plant realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence for the Manassas, VA, Woodland, CA, Murphysboro, IL, and Bedford, MA facilities. The HR Manager cultivates and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values while providing optimal level of HR service and delivery in support of business goals and objectives. Partners closely with plant, division, and corporate leadership to ensure compliance to legal and regulatory guidelines while also ensuring the optimal balance in support of our employees, the business, and the company interests.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a presence at each site and on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.

  • Educate and partner with plant management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment.

  • Resolve employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the need to operate in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Implement appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure plant compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws across all sites.

  • Develop and deploy people movement and recruiting strategies in collaboration with HR and operations leadership across all sites

Experiences/Education - Required

  • BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience

  • 5 years progressive experience in the HR or other employee leadership function

  • Manufacturing and union/labor relations experience

  • Background in conflict resolution, training and development, investigation skills

  • Able to operate independently and drive all aspects of the HR role for multiple plants

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • HRCI or SHRM Certification highly desired

  • Experience in diverse HR roles with strong functional knowledge

  • First line supervisor experience

  • Experience leading quality, training, safety, and security programs or projects

  • Work experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve the plant ability to achieve desired results-product start up, expansion, or mature business optimization

  • Business and financial insight

  • Organizational agility

This role is based in Manassas, VA with travel to Woodland, CA, Murphysboro, IL, Bedford, MA, Corning, NY, and Tewksbury, MA

The range for this position is $124,078.00 - $170,608.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
