Vanguard Solutions Consultant - IV in Malvern, Pennsylvania

The GIFS Solutions Consulting Group is growing! We are internal consultants with IT knowledge, investment acumen, and deep analytical skills leveraging systems thinking and support our partners in Investment Management, Financial Management, Portfolio Review and Global Risk & Security.

The ideal candidate collaborates with the business to strategically advise how technology, education, and process innovation can help them to meet their business goals. With a high level of IT and business acumen, proactively identifies opportunities and demonstrates possibilities that technology can enable. Solution Consultants are key participants in business technology planning, gaining a holistic view of the technology portfolio to reveal cross-functional and/or cross departmental opportunities. Solutions Consultants are a trusted member of the IT community and are relied on by the business to achieve their goals with people, process, technology and data solutions. They use ideation and experimentation methods, and provide strategic guidance to internal clients with regard to people, technology and enabling or refining major business processes.

In this role, you will:

  • Build productive working relationships with key partners to ensure recommendations and priorities are understood by all impacted parties. Leverage influencing and negotiation skills to champion optimal solutions. Act as an advocate for change to introduce new technologies and processes to shape the business strategy.

  • Translates business opportunities into strategic and cost-effective solution alternatives, along with high-level estimates and cost benefit analysis that supports the recommendations.

  • Partner with business and IT leaders to align business initiatives, priorities, and schedules based on strategic business and IT plans.

  • Influence the broad organization by leveraging knowledge of existing technology solutions and options, and the research that needs to be done to find new options.

  • Own and manage the capability landscape for one or more lines of business and its product owners as the business and the industry evolves. Develop deep knowledge of the business area(s) supported and the competitive landscape to provide context for decision-making.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business functions. Combine technical and functional knowledge to produce highly functional solutions to business problems.

What it takes:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Innovative about how to leverage business architecture principles and concepts to conduct effective conversations and tell a story

  • Expert at analysis (using evidence to reach conclusion) and emerging synthesis (taking disparate information and combining)

  • Prepares the group’s response to marketplace trends
