Being a Educational Transition Coordinator has its Advantages!

As the Educational Transition Coordinator you will support two school programs located in Malvern and Audubon, PA. Your week will be split working 4 days at The Mapleton School in Malvern [655 Sugartown Road, Malvern PA 19335] and working 1 day at Devereux Day Academy in Audubon [2650 Eisenhower Blvd, Norristown PA 19403]. In this position you will support the admission, discharge, and transition of students who are receiving educational services at our Approved Private Day School programs. You will work with community members to establish partnerships which will support these students as they transitions into productive members of the community.

Every day as a Educational Transition Coordinator you will....

  • Contribute to the IEP planning process regarding student discharge and transition services

  • Coordinate career inventory assessment planning

  • Communicate updates with new community partners and student progress to school leadership

  • Create volunteer opportunities and partnerships with OVR, local businesses, and community stakeholders

You will be offered:

  • Pay rate: $57,900 - $66,006 (based upon experience)

The Mapleton School located in Malvern, PA offers education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program. Devereux’s approved private schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals.

Devereux Day Academy is a private academic school program located in Audubon PA. Devereux Day Academy is licensed to serve students in grades K-8 who have been identified with the following primary disabilities: Intellectual Disability, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Specific Learning Disability, and Speech or Language Impairment. The core curriculum has been aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of our partner school districts. This alignment will facilitate smooth transitions to and from the program for your students. The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with learning experiences that foster increased engagement and success through differentiated instruction, evidence-based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations.

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE :Minimum of two years’ experience within behavioral healthcare strongly preferred. Experience with IEP planning in regards to Transition services and with Special education law required.

Valid driver's license must be maintained.
