Description Maize USD266 is seeking a principal for the Maize Virtual Preparatory School. This person will
use their leadership abilities and knowledge to promote a school environment that meets the
educational needs of todays learner, focusing on the skills, knowledge and experiences needed
for post graduation success.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Masters degree from an accredited university and active
buildingleadership license
Special Knowledge/Skills: School and building operations, curriculum and instruction,
budgeting,personnel management, implementation of policies and procedures, data
interpretation,verbal and written communication
Experience: At least 2 years of building leadership experience and/or experience in
virtualeducation preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Understand and demonstrate competence in content, student growth and development,
learning styles,virtual instruction and management, communication, lesson planning
assessment, reflection, and community.
2. Promote the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, and
implementation of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school
community.
3. Advocate, nurture, and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to
student learning and staff professional growth.
4. Model collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse
community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
5. Hire and evaluate staff..
6. Conduct staff evaluations.
7. Serve on building and district committees.
8. Oversee the special education process.
9. Conduct Parent Advisory Council meetings and create agendas.
10. Follow all KSDE, Legislation and BOE policy and regulation. Including the oversight and
completion of the virtual attendance audit.
11. Attend the quarterly KSDE virtual council meetings in order to stay up to date on virtual
policies and regulations.
12. Monitor instructional processes to ensure that educational activities are related to
outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions where necessary.
13. Provide instructional resources and materials needed to accomplish instructional goals.
14. Overseeing individual curriculum plans.
15. Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to virtual instructional
strategies, management and communication.
16. Foster collegiality and team building among staff. Encourage their active involvement in
the decision-making process.
17. Build a common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct planning activities and
implement programs to ensure attainment of the school\'s mission.
18. Establish building performance objectives using the district planning process and
involving school-based decision-making committees. Demonstrate progress using results
to promote school improvement.
19. Provide opportunities for interactive communication with district leaders, staff, students,
parents, and community. Work with staff to develop a student discipline management
system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
20. Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate
and equitable in accordance with the student handbook.

21. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and
teachers.
22. Develop and administer school budget based on documented program needs and
estimated enr ollment ensuring that operations are cost effective and funds are managed
wisely.
23. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents.
24. Approve individual learning plans.
25. Coordinate the distribution of resources to students and staff.
26. Oversee the onboarding of virtual students.
27. Arrange logistics for and host state assessment sites around the state.
28. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to
