Job Description:

The role of the technical infrastructure-run team member involves coordinating activities within the SDG to ensure the performance and availability of various components such as Linux servers, networks, and storage. This includes conducting regular maintenance tasks like patching, upgrades, and backups. Additionally, the team member is responsible for identifying the root cause of any issues, implementing solutions, and maintaining the infrastructure's security through firewalls, intrusion detection systems, code migration, and access controls. They also manage code migration and stay updated with emerging technologies, supporting application integration and maintenance. The team member is also responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of system improvements and tracking progress toward completion. This role requires theoretical knowledge and practical experience, and the individual is often a resource for colleagues with less experience. The team member must have in-depth expertise and the ability to solve complex problems independently.

Project Management

  • Integrates timelines and milestones across projects, identifying areas of synergy or dependency.

  • Determines actual or potential gaps in project resourcing and recommends mitigation strategies.

Automation and Security Practices:

  • Utilize IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible to codify infrastructure configurations. This enables version control, automated developments, and easier integration of security best practices within the infrastructure.

  • Some knowledge of Google Cloud services and infrastructure, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and Kubernetes Engine.

  • Implement automated patch management processes to ensure timely updates for all infrastructure components, addressing security vulnerabilities promptly.

  • Establish and enforce security baselines for all infrastructure components. These baselines should include secure operating system configurations, user access controls, and network segmentation.

  • Familiarity with security scanning tools like Burp, StackHawk, OWAP Zap, and Netsparker. Understand how these tools are used and can be integrated into a pipeline.

Troubleshooting Incidents and Prevention

  • Collaborate with the development teams to conduct a deep review of data and issues to reveal the root cause of the problem quickly.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, APM, Grafana, and Power BI to track infrastructure health, performance metrics, and resource utilization. Use this data to identify bottlenecks, optimize infrastructure configurations, and continuously improve efficiency.

  • Act as first responders when an incident occurs. Has some expertise in working with the development team to restore normal operations by implementing a fix for the incident's root cause. This might involve applying patches, reverting configurations, or implementing workarounds.

  • Application: OAS (Oracle Analytics Server), OBI (Oracle Business Intelligence), SQL Server Management Studio, WinSCP(FTP), Putty, PL/SQL developer, Oracle Clients, PAM, ADO/TFS, ServiceNow, Citrix Director, Google Looker, Certificate Management

  • Storage: NAS, SAN, Cloud Storage, Virtual Storage

  • Security: Security and Compliance (DevSecOps Access Control, security Patching, Vulnerability Management, Password Compliance and Compliance Audit)

  • Virtualization: Cloud Integration, Performance Optimization, Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Languages: BASH, Python, PowerShell, SQL, Selenium, IaC, Ansible
