The Head of Communications & Public Affairs, MedTech India will lead to plan, develop and implement impactful and measurable communication and public affairs programs that showcase the critical contribution of medtech to the health of the people and markets we serve.

The position will be responsible for all communication aspects of the MedTech business in the market, with a focus on best-in-class engagement and leadership support to the India Managing Director and leadership team. Collaboration and working actively in matrix team will be critically important.

This role will also serve as the key liaison of enterprise communications for Johnson & Johnson in India by collaborating with the members of Communications & Public Affairs team across the two sectors as well as the key internal stakeholders.

The successful person will be able to influence in a complex organization and demonstrate a high level of accountability to outcomes. Most critically, the role must break down silos, work seamlessly as team player and work to both receive and promote stories across channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

For J&J MedTech India:

§ Develop strong partnerships with and serve as trusted C&PA advisor to the MedTech India leadership team.

§ Support the strategic priorities of Johnson & Johnson MedTech in India - to drive our reputation for innovative and meaningful healthcare solutions for surgeons and patients in the market.

§ Develop the J&J MedTech narrative that expresses our critical contribution to individual health, solving major illness, improving health care systems and increasing economic vitality.

§ With a focus on best-in-class engagement, the role demands fluency in high impact press, influencer and social communications, media relations, and reputation management to continue driving the reputation of J&J MedTech business among the key external stakeholders.

§ Proactively address issues and crisis management with best-in-class processes and proactive planning and responses to mitigate the reputation risk for the company. Work with the regional and global communications teams, including global corporate affairs and media relations on key matters relating to reputation.

§ Leverage key transformational new product launches, tell local stories that bring them to life and produce local content to amplify for the greatest impact.

§ Develop an employee engagement strategy that informs a cadence of impactful employee programs and communications and ensure that the business strategy is well understood and advocated. Support the India Managing Director and key business leaders to promote a winning culture in the business to empower a high performing team.

§ Be the storytelling champion – proactively develop impactful stories that create meaningful and emotional connection and can be showcased in internal and external channels, locally and globally. Drive CSR / GCI programs that demonstrate the impact that J&J creates by empowering the frontline healthcare workers to bring better health to billions.

§ Champion Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the impact J&J can have as a positive force for good in the communities we serve.

§ Utilise extensive experience of advanced media coaching and training for senior executives and be a trusted board level business partner.

For J&J Enterprise:

§ Collaborate across the business teams and C&PA teams in both sectors to present the interests of the entire Johnson & Johnson Company with one voice in the market.

§ Seve as a key liaison for J&J enterprise communications needs in enabling the development and implementation of key enterprise initiatives, which include but not limited to - global executive visits, enterprise reputation generation opportunities, enterprise employee communications, issue and crisis management and etc.

§ Act as the contact point in India to drive global and regional enterprise communication programs and activities. Lead the deployment and execution of the initiatives by working with the C&PA teams across the sectors.

§ Create opportunities to engage key external and internal stakeholders to drive advocacy of J&J by leveraging the impact that we deliver to our patients.

§ Proactively promote our Credo stories in India at the J&J global communications platforms to drive awareness and endorsement, including HOME, Yammer and etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

§ 15 years of communication experience is required.

§ Direct experience in leading high impact, multi market programs to media and key stakeholders.

§ Exceptional writing ability and proven expertise in executive communication, including speechwriting and presentation development is required.

§ Track record in communications domain to demonstrate the impact the function has created to the business that she / he served. Extensive knowledge of health care industry is preferred.

§ The candidate must understand traditional and digital media and excel at developing productive relationships with key stakeholders.

§ The candidate should have crisis/issues management experience.

§ Proven ability to select and efficiently manage agencies/consultants is required.

§ Must have the ability to navigate in a highly decentralized, collaborative work environment, to influence, align and deliver on strategic and tactical topics, at all levels of the organization and possess strong interpersonal skills.

§ A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism or other related area is required; a related advanced degree is preferred. Working experience in multinational or local organizations at similar size is preferred. Experience as a journalist, or in an NGO, government agency, public relations/public affairs agency, or related area also bring values.

§ Fluency in English, oral and written, is required.

§ The candidate should be comfortable with the future potential of some business travel within Asia Pacific or some limited global travel.
