Job Description:

Johnson and Johnson Medical Device is recruiting for a Business Unit Head for Ethicon Endo surgery, India and South Asia, located in Mumbai

  • Leads the teams to build the Endosurgery business with a strong growth trajectory

  • Develops and implements Go-to-market business model, Digital Transformation, pursues appropriate market growth strategies and drives internal customer centricity. In so doing, advances partnership levels and increases competitive position for Endo to realize full market potential.

  • Plans, develops and directs all aspects of the business unit based on sales/profitability and other goals and objectives established as per org strategy. Formulates and communicates overall business objectives, policies, and strategic plans for the Business Unit.

  • Ensures strong connect with Key KOLs and spends adequate time in field to gather insights from customers about products, perceptions about products, effectiveness of strategies and creates team engagement and inclusion for the business.

  • Ensures creation and implementation of strong processes for all aspects of the business and works on simplifying existing processes to increase ease of working for the team

  • Ensures effective implementation and execution of policies and plans to direct the growth of the Company and to achieve both long-term and short-range objectives.

  • Accountable for leading the overall management of sales and marketing strategies, activities, operations, service, compliance and budgets associated with driving sales for the Ethicon Endosurgery portfolio.

  • Partners with regional teams & JJ Medtech global teams to develop a long-term growth roadmap for India and South Asia, supported by an investment model which drives growth efficiently, effectively and sustainably.

  • Leads cross-functional business teams in setting and achieving goals. Develops & builds strong pipeline leadership, bench strength & sales competencies which creates competitive advantage to meet and exceed the company’s short- and long-term objectives.

  • Drives value-added & mutually beneficial Customer partnerships and facilitating for JJMI to become preferred partner of choice.

  • A customer focused advocate, a change agent in developing a Customer Value Proposition Framework and optimal Professional Education engine & CRM Approach based on strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive landscape, category growth opportunities and Professional insights.

  • Leads and shapes the Professional Landscape through engagement with Industry Groups, Government Agencies, Academia, Professional Associations.

  • Credo Based Leadership and inculcates a strong culture of compliance

Key Responsibilities:

Business

  • To deliver a better health outcome for Customers and patients. Communicate Vision and direction to larger team and ensure successful execution.

  • Deliver Country Profit & Loss Financials, Credo and Our Voice Engagement, Talent Agenda & Compliance.

  • Accelerate BU growth, profitability and market share for existing and potential customers through leadership of Sales functions. Implement business Strategies to achieve business outcomes.

  • Champion business development of new channels, new market entries and business model innovations to drive value-added, mutually beneficial partnerships and effectively builds strong customer relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Identify both opportunities & business at risk - Conduct regular Business reviews as a basis for challenging and improving both short- and long-term strategies & action plans.

  • Lead senior level negotiations optimizing contractual opportunities which cement long term supply arrangements, understand the Government priorities and develop understanding of to create long term partnerships

  • Demonstrates product and procedural knowledge; clinical and procedural excellence, product expertise, and new product introduction experience and also understands market and competitive landscape

  • Manages and evaluates activities of key customer accounts, negotiates contracts of major customer accounts and provides guidance to sales team for sales, channel, category management initiatives are executed on plan.

  • Liaise with and guide Sales personnel, optimizing sales opportunities across all areas of the business through effective strategy, execution, teamwork and cooperation.

  • Possesses and exhibits vast understanding of the changing market dynamics in healthcare and understands the responsibility and requirements on the organization to continue to compete as viable player which includes market knowledge of Health Economics, industry trends, customer segmentation, customer data knowledge and buying process.

  • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction with franchise through management of relationships, product support and service.

People Management

  • Lead development of all sales employees & focus on building areas of strength

  • Aid in career development through effective career conversations through the year

  • Plan strong succession pipelines for all critical roles

  • Create & execute development plans & action plans for all sales employees

Reporting

  • The position reports to Senior Director, One Ethicon and is a member of the Commercial Leadership Team at MedTech, India

Qualifications

Qualifications - External

Education:

  • Education Background: MBA from a leading tier-1/2 business school in India or overseas

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience: Experience in Marketing & Sales preferably in an MNC setup. Prior experience in people management of large teams is essential for this role.

  • 10 years of prior relevant experience in Sales & Marketing – Driving sales across the country or large regions with Manager of Managers Experience, designing business models and launch plans, scale-up experience etc.

  • Strong healthcare industry knowledge and experience is preferred
