UW HOSPITAL & CLINICS Specimen Control & Receiving Technician in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Specimen Control & Receiving Technician - 34075 Work Schedule : This is a full-time, FTE 1.0, 1st shift position. Day shift work schedule, 8:00am or 9:00am start time, no weekends or holidays. Hours may vary based on department needs. You may be eligible for up to a \$2,500 sign-on bonus. We are seeking a Phlebotomist to: Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages. * Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling. * Complete specimen receiving and specimen processing. * Patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system. Equal Opportunity Employer-minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education * High School Diploma or equivalent Required * Some post-secondary education in a healthcare or a related science field that may include course work in Medical Laboratory Technician, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnician or Medical Laboratory Scientist degree/certification Preferred Work Experience * 6 months experience in lab, healthcare, customer service or data entry role Required * 1 year healthcare or lab related work experience Preferred Skills and Abilities * High level communication skills and the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with co-workers and clients. * Ability to organize and prioritize work. * Competence in problem identification and resolution. * Ability to work independently. * Knowledge of laboratory medicine and universal precautions preferred. * Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
