Position Overview The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for analyzing the informatics needs of users and translating them into functional specifications for new software systems or enhancements to existing systems. The Senior Software Engineer also designs, develops, implements, and maintains software systems, including applications, libraries and frameworks, services and database systems. The Senior Software Engineer may act as the project manager on larger projects and/or may lead the work of other software engineers. Finally, the Senior Software Engineer will mentor less experienced software engineers through code reviews, design sessions and pair programming. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following: Competent in all Software Engineer I/II responsibilities within assigned department. Monitors, debugs, tunes, and optimizes system / application / database performance. Lead peer review of application code and database design. Lead software releases. Able to contribute to improvements for PG software development processes and standards. May lead the work of other software engineers and/or web developers. Trains, mentors, and supports the professional development of less experienced software engineers. May perform other job-related duties as requested by management. May take on additional duties and responsibilities based on job performance. Stays current in software development techniques and technologies through professional reading, technical training, and conferences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. Support and comply with the company\'s Quality Management System policies and procedures. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
