Robert Half Senior Network Engineer in Madison, Wisconsin
Description
We are in search of a Senior Network Engineer to join our client's team in Madison, Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets both current and future requirements. They will also play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing network performance, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and managing relationships with partners and vendors.
Responsibilities:
• Strategically design and implement short and long-term plans to ensure network capacity aligns with existing and future requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures related to network operations.
• Conduct regular testing of network performance, generating performance statistics and reports to aid in decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with partners and vendors to achieve team goals and enhance network functionality.
• Lead and mentor network team staff, promoting a collaborative and learning-focused work environment.
• Coordinate the installation of hardware and software across the organization's network infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation.
• Administer contracts for network equipment and services, ensuring optimal terms and conditions.
• Conduct in-depth research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards to support network procurement and development efforts.
• Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure high-quality network products and services.
• Oversee equipment, hardware, and software upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to network operations.
• Develop long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future network/telecommunication needs.
• Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware including routers, switches, access points, and more.
• Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of network problems for end users, recommending and implementing corrective solutions.
• Undertake network system backup and recovery to ensure data safety and availability.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Requirements
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree or better is required
Cisco Certifications are preferred: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc
Technical Requirements:
Network design/architecture experience
Data Center experience
WAN/SD-WAN
Azure and/or GCP Networking is preferred
