JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Harris lab is looking for a Scientist III to join the lab. This person will be integral to overseeing the Harris Lab, and will work in conjunction with the Lamming Lab. The candidate will help with day-to-day lab activities, animal care, grant and manuscript preparation, experiential design, onboarding and educating other lab members, and with regulatory items for the lab. They will help execute the mission of the MPSC and will require microsurgical skills. The candidate will also work with Dr. Dudley Lamming in the Department of Medicine. Additional duties will include helping to run metabolic chambers, EchoMRI, and behavioral equipment as well as all other duties assigned. This candidate will work with pre and post-doctoral candidates. Responsibilities: Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs and supervises research, and prepares and presents results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications. May supervise staff. 15% Identifies research problems and develops highly complex research methodologies and procedures. Publishes and presents results to help advance research 35% Collects and analyzes highly complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials and, disseminates information to appropriate entities 5% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information 5% Identifies, writes, or assists in developing grant opportunities, grant applications, and proposals to secure research funding 5% Serves as an institutional subject matter expert and liaison with key internal and external stakeholders providing expert level information and representing the interests of a specialized research area 5% Monitors program budget and approves unit expenditures 10% Implements novel microsurgical procedures and coordinates the training of future lab members 10% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or...
