Actalent Revit Drafter in MADISON, Wisconsin

Job Title: Revit DrafterJob Description

The BIM Lead works with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other software packages and technologies. The Technician collaborates with senior design members, Project Managers, and jobsite Foremen to develop both 2D and 3D drawings for construction layout. This role involves creating documents to enhance productivity on the jobsite, aiding the team in using and visualizing construction documents more effectively, and contributing to cost estimating.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Revit model families for general and project-specific needs.

  • Produce shop drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings, and other necessary documents.

  • Attend coordination meetings to identify and eliminate potential issues early in the process.

  • Represent the company professionally by attending BIM coordination and clash detection meetings.

  • Work with the project team to coordinate work, clear clashes, and meet BIM requirements.

  • Assist with the coordination and management of electronic project files.

  • Use software such as Revit, MEP, Navisworks, MS Office, Bluebeam, and Robotic Total Station Software to model electrical system components.

  • Create installation drawings for jobsite personnel.

  • Coordinate installation with other trades.

  • Provide information to coworkers for sub-assembly and prefabrication.

  • Complete specific project requirements.

  • Handle various project types including healthcare, renewables, schools, clinics, data centers, and battery storage.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks software.

  • Experience with construction drawings and blueprints.

  • Understanding of construction schedules and documents.

  • Knowledge of electrical and architectural layouts.

  • Ability to read blueprints and understand building layouts.

  • Experience in creating detailed and accurate drawings.

  • 5+ years of Revit experience.

  • MEP experience, preferably from a contractor background .

  • Ability to work efficiently with high quality and retain taught information.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on the construction/contractor side.

  • Knowledge of basic NEC codes, electrical layouts, and wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to draw conduit and circuit elements in Revit.

  • Understanding of panel schedules and electrical drawings.

  • Ability to build electrical families in Revit is a plus.

  • Associates degree in a related field.

  • Forward-thinking with a drive to improve processes and efficiencies.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in training and mentoring junior staff.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.

Work Environment

This role supports the Electrical Division in industrial layout work for construction projects, currently focusing on chocolate factories, cheese factories, and food processing facilities. Other project types include schools, hospitals, and commercial work. The team consists of 6 Revit Technicians and 1 Manager, working in a family-owned, laid-back environment that values forward-thinking and efficiency. Flexible first shift hours with business casual dress code. Initial 6 months based in Madison, with a preference for long-term relocation to Pewaukee. The company offers a discretionary bonus pool and 401K with match.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00
