JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Cyclotron Research Group is an experimental research and medical grade materials production resource for the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the wider U.S.-based nuclear medicine community. Its mixture of academic faculty, multidisciplinary scientific staff, and student/trainees works together to discover and develop novel radionuclide science and technology with applications in many fields including cancer management, diabetes, nuclear reactors, materials science, and applied inorganic chemistry. This position will focus on the development and implementation of methods for provision of novel and established radiometal synthons for preclinical and clinical nuclear medicine research. It will be highly collaborative with the accelerator, radiochemical separations, nuclear and radioanalytical expertise available in the Cyclotron Group to facilitate downstream research applications that require these unique materials. The overall goal is transitioning benchtop research methods from fundamental scientific research into reliable processes that can sustainably serve highly integrated, multi-disciplinary projects in medical science. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision. 20% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
