American Family Insurance - Corporate Principal Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Primarily Office) in Madison, Wisconsin

The Principal Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing the aircraft maintenance program which outlines all servicing and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable aircraft and compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements. This position works with the department manager to develop the aircraft maintenance program, schedule service and repairs, and oversee completion of all maintenance activities. Oversees work completed by contract maintenance personnel and outside maintenance vendors to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft. Coordinates maintenance department projects and budget issues. You will report to Senior Manager, Aircraft Maintenance.

In this primarily office-based role, you will be expected to reside within 30 miles of the Madison, WI facility.

Position Compensation Range:

$109,000.00 - $186,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

• Provide passenger safety briefings, ensures cabin safety during critical phases of flight, and directs passengers in case of aircraft emergencies.

• Direct use of all cabin amenities, including advanced technology features. Support galley and food services as needed.

• Ensure proper rest prior to reporting for work to manage fatigue.

• Actively participates in the SMS program.

• Support established security procedures that protect passengers, aircraft and the Flight Operations hangar facility. Coordinates with all Flight Operations personnel to maintain a high level of aircraft and facility security awareness.

Additional Accountabilities

•Responsible for the oversight and completion of scheduled inspections and un-scheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft. Performance of the inspections and maintenance to be completed hands-on and in-house, when possible, based on the flight schedule.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service

• Demonstrated experience contributing to the development of company or department safety management process.

• Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated maintenance experience on corporate business jets, or comparable.

• Demonstrated experience overseeing and signing off on the work of vendors or contractors.

• Solid knowledge and understanding of FAA standards as they relate to aircraft maintenance, inspection, and required record keeping.

Additional Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant rating.

• Strongly prefer a valid FAA Inspection Authorization designation.

• This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

• This position requires the ability to work with exposure to fumes or airborne particles between 33 - 66% of the time.

• This position requires the ability to work with exposure to outside weather conditions between 33 - 66% of the time.
