JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: We are seeking a data scientist to join the Center for Limnology. The data scientist\'s role will be to contribute to the research agendas of Center for Limnology PIs and partners, by preparing data sets, analyzing them using reproduceable techniques, and summarizing and presenting results. The data scientist may help in mentoring students and will engage with center-wide activities at the Hasler Lab of limnology. The data scientist will work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities: Contributes to a research agenda set by a lead researcher by preparing data sets, analyzing them using data science techniques, and presenting the results. May work independently or as part of a team. 25% Prepares data sets for analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources 25% Independently identifies and implements appropriate data science techniques to find data patterns and answer research questions chosen by the lead researcher including data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining 10% Organizes and automates project steps for data preparation and analysis 10% Composes and assembles reproducible workflows and reports to clearly articulate patterns to researchers and/or administrators 10% Documents approaches to address research questions and contributes to the establishment of reproducible research methodologies and analysis workflows 5% Travel to present results or work with collaborators 5% Serves as a resource to the Center for Limnology community for identifying appropriate methods and learning new data science processes 10% Contribute to publication of research results Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
